The EMX NIR-50 Retro-Reflective Photoeye will need to be paired up with a “nucleus” device as it does not have the necessary timed relay. The NIR-50 Photoeye only requires the use of a reflector to operate. The use of a photoeye in a door access control is great for hospitals, warehouses, and other applications where you would need hands-free exiting abilities.
The NIR-50 photoeye is compatible with both 12v and 24v power sources. On PanicExitPro.com, there are a few 12v powering options available: Sentry E. Labs Transformer or Sentry E. Labs Transformer with Battery backup.
This exiting device does not have timed relay built in. To use the NIR-50 in a door access system you must pair it with a “nucleus” device. The NIR-50 is best paired with a automatic door opener as this will allow for complete hands-free exiting of a the door system. The NIR-50 can also be paired with the rest of the nucleus devices listed on PanicExitPro.com.
The NIR-50 send out a invisible beam of light that is approximately 2 feet in diameter which is reflected back at the photoeye by the included reflector. When the beam is disrupted it closes the normally open relay and will trigger the “nucleus” device to unlock the door.
